by Ricardo Sosapavon (Author)
When he first started playing golf, Ricardo Sosapavon found little, if any, information in books that would actually help a beginning golfer-most books were too technical for the beginner or assumed the reader already has some familiarity with the game. This became the inspiration for I Love Golf! A Survival Guide for Beginners, a well-crafted, fun, and easy-to-understand golf instructional for anyone who is new to the game. I Love Golf! is written in a fun and informative way-golf lingo and concept are translated into every-day language so the reader can easily understand, and starts at the very beginning, giving detailed explanations of basic concepts such as: - A thorough explanation of the game - Easy-to-understand instructions and diagrams - Suggestions on how to avoid embarrassment as a beginner - Great anecdotes from the author's experiences as a golfer - Tips for mastering the mental game I Love Golf! is the perfect book for anyone who wants to learn the game.
Author Biography
Ricardo Sosapavon traded his day-job at Microsoft for a different kind of challenge on the golf course. He'd always been a sports enthusiast, first with tennis, then as a devoted mountain biker, yet golf would prove to be his biggest challenge yet. He started playing golf in 2002, and after taking lessons two to three times a week for a year, lowered his handicap index to 6.3. He's played in and won several golf tournaments at club-level, and was part of the team that won an inter-club championship in Mexico City. His greatest accomplishment on the golf course so far has been scoring his lowest round, a 73, and achieving his lowest handicap index of 4.7. Ricardo was born and raised in Mexico. He moved to the United States in 2006 with his wife of many years and two daughters. His strong faith guides him daily as a partner in a bicycle-based small business, Cletaworld.com, with his family, and on the golf course.

It began as a Depression-era, winner-take-all challenge between two Chicago stockbrokers, one of them a flamboyant daredevil with more guts than money and the other with more money than sense. It erupted into a national news story, one never told in its entirety--until King of Clubs: The Great Golf Marathon of 1938. In September 1938, thirty-two-year-old J. Smith Ferebee agreed to play 600 holes of golf in eight cities, from Los Angeles to New York, over four consecutive days. The ordeal meant playing more than thirty-three rounds in just ninety-six hours. The stakes: Ferebee's friend and former business partner Fred Tuerk agreed that if Ferebee succeeded, he would pay on Ferebee's behalf a $20,000 mortgage on 296 acres of waterfront Virginia land. If Ferebee lost, he would surrender to Tuerk his ownership stake in the property. Brokers on LaSalle Street in Chicago piled up bets. Before long, the marathon was estimated to be worth $100,000, or well more than $1 million today. Playing despite a severe leg injury, Ferebee faced one obstacle after another, including a gambler's brazen sabotage attempt in Philadelphia. He started the morning rounds before dawn and ended the afternoon rounds in darkness, with lighting provided by spectators' cars, local fire departments, or flares. Remarkably, Ferebee never lost a ball. Combining the appeal of Seabiscuit and The Greatest Game Ever Played, King of Clubs will amaze and entertain readers from opening drive to final putt.

by Warne Palmer (Author)
Written specifically for the left-handed golfer, eliminating the need to try to transpose techniques geared to right-handers, this book presents a simple system that can help you improve your swing, and your game, by identifying and correcting both technical and instinctive mental or physical flaws.
Warne Palmer is a Class A PGA Golf Professional in the Northern Ohio Section of the PGA of America and an Instructor of Golf at Avalon Golf and Country Club in Warren, Ohio. This book is the culmination of his forty years of experience as a golf professional and educator. The fundamentals presented in this book have been developed over the years while instructing students, and can benefit left-handed golfers of any age or skill level. This system will help you increase the number of solid shots you hit during a round by focusing on your own golf swings and tendencies, identifying whether your game's weaknesses are caused by technical flaws (60%) or physical or mental errors (40%), and providing a comprehensive series of drills and checklists to address your weaknesses and improve your swing from the tee, on the fairway, on the green, and in a variety of commonly encountered situations. The 60/40 Golf Method... The five distinct groupings of clubs - wedges, irons, hybrids and fairway metals, drivers and putters - require slightly different swing techniques, but there are also concepts that connect all full swings. This book addresses the five distinct swings, presenting proper technique, common errors and flaws, and simple drills, checklists and exercises to enable you to improve each of the basic swings, along with tips on equipment selection, specialty shots, course and game management, and more. Warne Palmer is also the author of Palmer 60/40 Golf: Modern Golf Swing Fundamentals, ISBN-13: 978-0615778419.by Dan Jenkins (Author)

by Billy J. Sr. Gaines (Author)
This Book was not written on the life and legend of Mr. Moe Norman, rather on the contributions he made towards the single plane swing and the game of golf itself. What I am trying to do in this book is to relay to the reader what I have learned over the 13 1/2 years I spent teaching this method. Mr. Norman took a natural movement used for chopping wood or nailing nails and perfected it into the single plane golf swing we know of today. That's why this movement has been referred to as, ?The Hammer Affect?. The genius of the man was not to completely invent a new golf swing ?no?, but rather to revert back to a movement that we humans have been using since the dawn of time. He did not alter that natural motion, as stated above, but adjusted his setup to fit it and by doing so he defined the meaning ?Square Tracking?. The second most dramatic change the single plane swing gives the golfer is that the forward motion is initiated by a shoulders down (upper body) movement rather than the feet up movement as in the covenantal swing! Because of this setup and upper body swinging movement there is less stress in the low back, less back pain! Through years trial and error he produced the most repeatable and consistent swing in the game of golf. The same swing which allowed him to shoot the three 59s in tournament play. I?m convinced that if Mr. Norman had the charisma of other Pro?s, half the golfing world would be swinging in a single plane. Join me in this book and learn this wonderful swing.

Most golfers have difficulty with the concept of hitting down at the ball to make it fly. Surprisingly, a great many players surveyed did not even know you need to hit down to get the ball up in the air. Hit Down Dammit! concisely explains the concept - and the technique - of hitting down at the golf ball for proper trajectory, increased backspin, much improved distance, proper divot taking, and best of all: consistent shotmaking. If you are inadvertently - or intentionally - hitting up at the ball, Hit Down Dammit! is for you. If you are a seasoned amateur who has inexplicably "plateaud" - just cannot seem to get to the next level despite lessons and/or acquiring a library of books and videos - Hit Down Dammit! is for you.Symptoms of hitting up include (but are not limited to): - topping the ball- skulling the ball- pushing the ball- slicing the ball- poor distance- difficulty getting off back foot- poor backspin- no divot- fat divots- chunking the ball- thin/fat chip shots- roofing the ball with your driver- inability to hit long irons and/or fairway woods- good shots followed immediately by poor shotsHitting down at the golf ball is not a new concept, but it is a hitherto poorly explained (or completely avoided) concept. All pros agree on the need to hit down, so there is no debate there. Even Tiger Woods, in his 306 page "How I Play Golf", states the need to hit down at the ball - but does not explain how. Hit Down Dammit! does. Learn to hit down, watch the ball go up, and your scores go down.

From the outside, it appears Billy Newman has it all. A successful businessman with a beautiful family, Billy has not only achieved his dreams of financial success, he also has realized his dream of playing golf around the world. As a sports writer for a national magazine, he has seen and experienced nearly all the world's greatest golf courses, from Pinehurst to Pebble Beach to St. Andrews and beyond.

Frustrated, confused and lost at heart, Billy finally sets foot on the one elite golf course he has not yet visited - the gorgeous, lonely Prairie Dunes in the middle of Kansas. Tom Watson once said about the course, "It's a little bit of Scotland in the land of Oz...Like Scotland, the wind usually blows."
On this impressive golf course, struggling against the land's natural challenges and his own billowing questions about life, Billy may just find, among this great inland links on this cold windy autumn day, the answers that have been eluding him. Golf is a Unique "Ballgame"
Learning to play Golf is quite an interesting, enjoyable and fun-filled experience. However, there are a number of unusual, unexpected revelations which a new or aspiring golfer should first understand. The American public understands "Ballgames". We have grown up "playing ball". Surprisingly though, golf does not conform to the same athleticism that typically applies to our sports backgrounds. Consequently, an aspiring golfer should first understand the challenges that learning Golf poses.
The Game of Golf certainly has a storied history, but the real popularity took hold in the U.S. in the early 1960's when the "Big Three" - Palmer, Nicklaus and Player brought Golf to life on television. Since this introduction, traditional "Golf Instruction" has provided the customary preparatory "fundamentals", including grip, aim, posture, keep your eyes on the ball, the left arm straight and don't look-up!!! Sound familiar? While technology and the Golf Industry, including viewership have made advancements, Golf Participation has lagged. Something has been missing Yes, the economy has had its ups and downs and had an influence on participation statistics, while many will opine that "Golf is just a very difficult Game". As a result, many prospective golfers have walked away from the Game, claiming various unfounded reasons.
Have you heard it said that "Playing Golf is 90% mental and only 10% physical?
Many high-powered Golf Industry executives, professional Trainers, Nutritionists, Sports Psychologists, along with other Golf Professionals have failed to grow the game. Something is missing and the real answers can be found in "How To Learn to Play Golf". Technology will not teach you Golf. The educational program in this Book will explain the pitfalls and provide the proper methods to develop a consistent motor-skill of properly Swinging a Golf Club. Without the understanding that your most important fundamental is the resolute intent To Swing the Club, you will likely become just another statistic. You deserve to share in this great Game of Golf with those of us who have been playing since we were kids, and yes, the reasons why are included.
A contributing problem is that we "human beings" are not born with a DNA Profile to be a Golfer. With all of the technological advancements and professional input an important part of the puzzle is being overlooked. In my opinion Golf Instruction has been replaced by technical forms of Golf Analysis and Golf Vacation Promotional Opportunities, e.g. valuable time and effort has been spent by interested aspiring golfers who have been short-changed without a clear understanding of how to improve their Games.
The first Most Important Fundamental is to adopt the belief that The Swing is the Thing. The ball just gets in the way of the club. From this point forward, the Lesson Program as presented in "How To Learn To Play Golf" will make perfect sense. Let's enjoy the process together.

Under what circumstances is it not advisable to use a wood club in the fairway? What can be done to lessen the effect of the wind upon your shots? Is it ever sensible to use a putter from the short fringe surrounding the green? Is there any difference in the way a driver and a brassie or spoon shot should be hit? What adjustment in stance should be made when playing a ball on a downhill lie? What is the difference between a pitch shot and a chip shot? Sam Snead answers these and a great many more questions in this book. It's easy reading, and is full of valuable stroke-saving information for all golfers, from the occasional weekenders to the advanced amateurs. It explains every type of shot, every kind of lie. No tiresome theory-no remaking of your swing. Just uncomplicated, easy-to-remember directions for choosing, and using, the right club for each situation. Here, concisely, is the way one of the greatest of all golfers plays the game.

The Code
1. Never, never, ever tell him to, "Take his clubs and shove them" (at least not where he can hear you). 2. Hit not thy husband with an iron! 3. No aiding and abetting golf equipment (this includes backing over it with the car). 4. Sell not thou husband's golf clubs in a garage sale. 5. Thou shall not put his golf tees in the fire place. 6. Thou shall not become a heckler. 7. The score card is the little black book you don't throw away. 8. Golf carts are driven over bridges, not into them. 9. Trophies are not paperweights. 10. You do NOT get a parking privilege for his handicap.by Izzy Justice (Author)
Golf has three competitors: other players, the course, and-most importantly-you.
Scoreboards tell you how you performed against others. Your score against par shows how you performed against the course. But how do you measure your performance against yourself-the only competitor you truly control?
In GYRA Golf, sports neuropsychologist Dr. Izzy Justice introduces a game-changing tool: the GYRA Mental Scorecard. Backed by neuroscience and Emotional Intelligence (EQ), this is the first-ever system that allows you to track your thoughts, emotions, and focus-per shot, per hole-just like your physical score.
Based on a 12-month research study and data from hundreds of golfers, this practical, easy-to-use approach helps you understand your mental patterns, recover from bad shots faster, and improve your performance under pressure. You'll learn how the brain responds to stress on the course, how emotions shape decisions, and how to train your mental "equipment" like you do your swing.
Whether you're a junior golfer, weekend warrior, or seasoned pro, GYRA Golf gives you the tools to compete against your toughest opponent: yourself.
"You may never play golf the same way if you start measuring your mental performance on the golf course."
-Gary Player, World Golf Hall of Fame
"The difference between a good and great player is usually their mental approach. This is groundbreaking."
-Tim Straub, Davidson College

The remarkable true story of a lone genius whose quest to unlock the science behind the perfect swing changed golf forever
In 1939, Homer Kelley played golf for the first time and scored 116. Frustrated, he did not play again for six months; when he did he carded a 77. Determined to understand why he was able to shave nearly 40 strokes off his score, Kelley spent three decades of trial and error to unlock the answer and to recapture that one wonderful day when golf was easy and enjoyable. In 1969, Kelley self- published his findings in The Golfing Machine: The Computer Age Approach to Golfing Perfection. The bestselling instruction books of the day required golfers to conform their swings to the author's ideals, but Homer Kelley configured swings to fit every golfer. He found an enthusiastic disciple in a Seattle teaching pro named Ben Doyle, who in turn found an eager student in 13-year-old prodigy Bobby Clampett. Clampett's initial success in amateur golf shined a bright spotlight on Homer Kelley and The Golfing Machine, but when the young star suffered a painfully public collapse and faltered as a pro, critics were quick to blast Kelley and his complex and controversial ideas. With exclusive access to Homer Kelley's archives, author Scott Gummer paints a fascinating picture of the man behind the machine, the ultimate outsider who changed the game once and for all of us.Author Biography
Scott Gummer has written for more than forty different magazines, including Vanity Fair, Sports Illustrated, LIFE, Fortune, Departures, Golf Digest, GOLF, and Travel + Leisure Golf. He is also the author of The Seventh at St. Andrews. He lives, works, and plays a middling game of golf in the California wine country.

Most golfers have difficulty with the concept of hitting down at the ball to make it fly.Surprisingly, a great many players surveyed did not even know you need to hit down to get the ball up in the air. Hit Down Dammit! concisely explains the concept - and the technique - of hitting down at the golf ball for proper trajectory, increased backspin, much improved distance, proper divot taking, and best of all: consistent shotmaking. If you are inadvertently - or intentionally - hitting up at the ball, Hit Down Dammit! is for you. If you are a seasoned amateur who has inexplicably "plateaud" - just cannot seem to get to the next level despite lessons and/or acquiring a library of books and videos - Hit Down Dammit! is for you.Symptoms of hitting up include (but are not limited to): - topping the ball - skulling the ball - pushing the ball - slicing the ball - poor distance - difficulty getting off back foot - poor backspin - no divot - fat divots - chunking the ball - thin/fat chip shots - roofing the ball with your driver - inability to hit long irons and/or fairway woods - good shots followed immediately by poor shots Hitting down at the golf ball is not a new concept, but it is a hitherto poorly explained (or completely avoided) concept.
Author Biography
Born in Toronto, Clive Scarff developed a love of writing at an early age. His first "movie" aired on local cable when he was 13. At 14 he and his family moved to Australia where, in high school, he was the first-ever student to write a play for the school's drama festival. Clive returned to Toronto to study Radio and TV Arts at Ryerson University, majoring in writing. This led to a first career, in television production, where he wrote for commercials, ethnic programming, a fishing show, Canada's Gemini Awards, and CTV's Winter and Summer Olympic coverage. In 1994 Clive took a chance to test his mettle in the world of golf, and successfully qualified to become a PGA golf professional. His strength lay with teaching, and that teaching combined with his writing history led to the creation of "Hit Down Dammit!" - a golf instruction book that explains the workings of the golf swing as it revolves around the physical need to hit down at a golf ball to make it go up, and straight. The success of Hit Down Dammit! opened a lot of doors; Clive now has a syndicated golf column, a series of instructional DVDs, and had added "Why You Suck at Golf" "Mystic Links" and "Swing Issues" to his inventory of golf-related books. Also completed is a golf-themed screenplay called "Senior Tour". Clive resides in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
