Through The Wall: A Boy's Struggle For Freedom is a book written by Alida Sims Malkus. It is a heart-wrenching story of a young boy named Peter who is trapped behind the Berlin Wall. The book is set in the early 1960s, during the Cold War era, when East and West Germany were divided by the Berlin Wall. Peter, a boy living in East Berlin, dreams of freedom and a better life. He longs to join his father, who had escaped to the West before the wall was built. Peter's life takes a turn for the worse when his mother dies, leaving him alone with his abusive stepfather. He becomes friends with a young girl named Anna, who lives on the other side of the wall. Together, they hatch a plan to help Peter escape to the West. However, their plan is fraught with danger and obstacles, as the East German authorities are always watching and listening. The story is a gripping tale of courage, perseverance, and hope. It highlights the struggles faced by those who lived behind the Iron Curtain and the lengths they went to in order to achieve freedom.
