by Gabrielle Journey-Jones (Author)
'It's the details of a thing...what eye love about Gabe's poetry. The depth in the beauty of a moment slowed way down... Eye enter her words and the legs of my mind and heart slow to stroll as eye am carried like a precious thing on the words of her song...her poetry. From the warm feel of the water on my skin as a single mother washes the dishes and sneaks in some dreaming to the joy found in laughter... What a beautiful walk this is...and its the kind that doesnt make one tired...and you wanna turn around and do it again...so eye will.' - E. Nina Jay, poet, Chicago, Illinois
'This collection brings with it an eclectic mix of words creating imagery in one's mind of which to get lost in. Gabrielle Journey's The Purpose of Truth is tainted with evoking memories of sisterhood, parenting, maturity, compassion, love, and the ever presence of gratitude for the land whose culture embraces her creativity.' - Dr Vanessa Lee-Ah Mat PhD, author and co-founder, Cultural Embassy, Queensland
'Gabrielle generously welcomes us into her family, her home, her landscape and her journey. I feel refreshed, having caught my breath in her warmly observed details of meals, country and children. Questions asked, hopes shared, humanity affirmed on Yuin Country by a true poet with a warm soul - enjoy!' - Morganics, hip hop artist and community worker, Queensland
'It's a real pleasure to dive into works so rich with colour and feeling, penned by a talented writer who draws inspiration from the creative community in which she lives, celebrating diversity, activism and inclusion. Gabrielle Journey Jones puts words together mindfully and masterfully - when spoken, her pieces share an even greater power. Poignant and authentic, The Purpose of Truth is a wonderful collection of poetry sharing snapshots of life on Yuin Country and beyond.' - Leah Szántó, writer and editor, Final Proof, New South Wales
