by David Brent Roundsley (Author)
"The HOA" is a sharp, thoughtful, and biting satire of life within a dysfunctional homeowners' association.
Through a satirical and comedic take on the internal goings-on of a fictional HOA, readers will enjoy stories of the strange and absurd situations, miscommunications, and side-splitting absurdity of the residents.
The book follows the unlikely (but dedicated and well-meaning) members of HOA community as they come together for the first time to try to solve a sudden financial crisis no one admits to having seen coming. The band of misfits is even more surprised when they discover the day-to-day realities of the HOA are far different than what they imagined them to be as they take on the challenges of addressing the status quo. Along the way, they learn their lessons the hard way as they confront both the issues at hand and their own shortcomings.
From late-night community meetings to wild and ridiculously petty disputes, it's the perfect blend of relatable suburban life mixed with a comedy of errors. Readers will get a glimpse into all the quirkiness and all the drama that comes with being part of an HOA. From outrageous spending, to heated debates, to hidden agendas, to political maneuvering, appearances can be deceiving behind the white-only mandated window treatments.
Diving into the often hilarious, and sometimes nightmarish world of a homeowners' association, the vivid descriptions of the power struggles, petty squabbles, and backstabbing that goes on, there are tales of friendship and comradery. With unexpected plot twists, miscommunications, strange and absurd situations, comedy and chaos reign supreme, as readers encounter a wide array of eccentric and entertaining characters.
