by Stephanie Abraham (Author)
The Boxer has long been one of America's best-loved dog breeds and this book is a true celebration of Boxers and why so many dog lovers have been, and continue to be, attracted to them. The Boxer: Family Favorite is the ideal book for the pet owner, novice fancier and veteran enthusiast alike. The reasons for the Boxer's solid reputation can be recognized throughout this book. Those seeking information on the breed for any reason will find all their questions answered by one of the Boxer world's foremost authorities. Like the other titles in Howell's Best of Breed Library, this book features chapters on all aspects of caring for, and enjoying a dog in and away from the home, and includes several valuable appendices.
Front Jacket
There is no better dog than a Boxer for loyalty, intelligence, and boundless enthusiasm?whether it's on the agility course or guarding the backyard (usually from neighborhood cats!), the Boxer is always ready for the challenge. The Boxer, a true family favorite, has been valued for many years as a pet, protector, and service dog. Boxers are wonderful family dogs, great with children and sociable with others. They are willing to please and enjoy working for praise, making them a valued member of any household. Boxers have enjoyed the company of movie stars such as Bogie & Bacall, and have been used widely as assistance dogs, police dogs, and rescue dogs. It is difficult to discover another breed that can fill so many niches, or please so many people with such different needs.
Back Jacket
The Boxer: Family Favorite gives potential owners, new converts and veteran Boxer lovers all they need and want to know about this do-all dog. Dog shows, obedience and agility competitions, decorated war heroes and service dogs, and all the other activities Boxers can participate in are discussed. Appendices include useful resources, important pedigrees and top dogs in the breed.

In 1982 Stephanie was licensed by the American Kennel Club to judge Boxers and had judged all over North America and abroad--including the American Boxer Club National and the Canadian Boxer Club National. She has judged many Boxer specialties in the USA, England, Australia, Japan, Brazil, the Philippines, and Mexico.
