by Pat F. Garrett (Author)
This book provides a first-hand account of life, adventures, crimes and tragic death of a notorious outlaw, William H. Bonney, better known as Billy the Kid, who was shot and killed by Pat Garrett, the Sheriff of Lincoln County, New Mexico, while discharging his official duty. Disclosing his real name, it describes in detail the place of his nativity, the particulars of his career, the circumstances which drove him to his desperate life, and hundreds of impossible deeds of reckless crime of which he was never guilty, and in localities he never visited. It also narrates his unequalled courage, presence of mind in danger, devotion to his allies, generosity to his foes, and all the elements which appeal to the holier emotions.
