by Edward Myers (Author)
Jack, born into a humble farm family in a village called Yorrow, has always known that his life will offer more than just planting and harvesting crops. Why? Because he loves to tell stories. He is, in fact, driven to tell stories -- a drive that no one else in Yorrow seems to understand or value. So, shortly after his seventeeth birthday, Jack -- like so many other Jacks before him -- leaves home to seek his fortune.
This intricate novel, set in a richly imagined fantasy world, tells the tale of Jack's many adventures and narrow escapes. Storyteller also tells the stories of the colorful characters Jack meets along the way, among them a talking bird, a one-eyed robber, a melancholy princess, and a mysterious illusionist.
All of these tales -- and a frame story as well -- intertwine to create a dazzling web of stories guaranteed to capture the reader's imagination. Through them, Edward Myers explores the power (both for good and for evil) of the stories in our lives.
