by David Bruce Grim (Author)
Author David Bruce Grim returns with "Still a Rising Tide" -- his sequel to "Swift Currents" where readers first met Callie Hewitt on her journey from enslavement to freedom during the Civil War. Now, we revisit Callie and her family in 1893 as our heroine returns to the sea islands she loves, determined to write her own story about the joys and sorrows of the Reconstruction Era and its impact on her family. Callie's daughter, Sunny, is all grown up, as are her nephews and nieces. The family is thriving, free of slavery for thirty years, but conflicts and challenges remain. "Still a Rising Tide" delivers a message of hope and optimism in a time where racial tension was blatant and dangerous.
