by Sucharita Kansal (Author)
The Shiv Sutra, nestled within the broader tradition of Kashmir Shaivism unveil profound truths about reality, consciousness, and spirituality. The paintings contained in this book birthed from the artist's own communion with these ancient texts, are a testament to the power of art as a conduit for spiritual insight. With each brushstroke, the artist ventures into the very essence of the scriptures, extracting their concealed truths and profound revelations. These paintings serve as a bridge, seamlessly connecting the ancient and the contemporary, offering a visual hymn that invites the viewers to contemplate the depths of these venerable texts through the lens of artistic interpretation.
Recognising that spiritual evolution is a unique journey for each individual - some discovering oneness through contemplation, others through mantras, and some through detachment - the artist's distinct portrayal of the Shiv Sutra pays homage to Shiv, emphasising our innate longing to connect with the divine.
The artist extends a heartfelt invitation to approach these artworks with an open heart and a receptive mind wherein the act of contemplating the Sutras can become a potent catalyst for personal growth and spiritual transformation. The paintings beckon us to embark on a journey of introspection, to question our assumptions, and to dive into the boundless depths of our consciousness.
