Desde el descubrimiento accidental de su eficacia en el tratamiento de la psoriasis y la artritis reumatoide, hace ya más de sesenta años, el metotrexato se ha convertido en un estándar terapéutico en numerosas enfermedades inflamatorias.
Aunque existen cuantiosos estudios que documentan su eficacia en diversas enfermedades reumatológicas, no se ha evaluado de forma sistemática el empleo de metotrexato en enfermedades dermatológicas; en el caso de la psoriasis, la evidencia científica existente acerca de su eficacia y seguridad se basa más en la experiencia clínica que en los ensayos clínicos disponibles, que en todo caso son de publicación reciente y comparativos con otros fármacos. En cualquier caso el metotrexato se considera el tratamiento sistémico convencional de referencia para el control mantenido de la actividad de la psoriasis. Por otra parte, la reciente introducción de los tratamientos biológicos, que ha revolucionado el manejo terapéutico de la psoriasis, ha puesto de relieve la utilidad del metotrexato como tratamiento combinado, al aumentar la eficacia o disminuir el aclaramiento y la inmunogenicidad de algunos agentes biológicos.

Damaged, defective, or incorrect items are handled at no return-shipping cost to the customer.
