by Patricia Emrie Hilton (Author), Gail Emrie (Illustrator)
Patricia Emrie Hilton dedicated her life's work to raising her five children. She always put her family first while putting this book on her list of rainy day dreams. You will find a very clever and creative approach to her story telling in this delightful children's book about Patty Mae and her imaginary friend, a doll named Poor Pitiful Pearl.
During the mid 1950's Patty Mae was a small little girl with big ideas. Most days she would go downtown on her bicycle. Her pup Lazy was behind her willing to go wherever, whenever she wanted. They went to see her momma and daddy who worked downtown. They watched the people there live their lives. They would go to movies, parks, shops, cafes and soda fountains. The pup, Lazy, always waited patiently, never moving far from her bicycle. For her birthday she adopted a doll named Poor Pitiful Pearl. The three of them went everywhere together. The places in this book are real. The characters are her family. The most important place Pearl went with her was her imagination.
