by Christopher Monteagle (Author)
"Loved it! A thought-provoking epic fantasy novel with intriguing and empathetic female protagonists." -Reedsy Discovery
Two women. Opposites in personality and status. Divided by the breadth of the world. Identical in appearance.
In Christopher Monteagle's enthralling tale, two young women, Vale and Elyn, initially strangers, find themselves entwined in a war started by the gods centuries ago. Vale, a formidable army commander in her father's Empire, navigates the political intricacies, while Elyn, a timid villager, lives a secluded life in the Outer Wild.
The gods, over centuries, have abandoned their people, leaving the world torn between the last two remaining deities. To end the devastating war, Elyn and Vale must unravel the secret that binds them together, facing the sacrifices it demands.
Monteagle's narrative, initially reminiscent of YA fantasy, seamlessly transitions into traditional adult fantasy, catering to a diverse audience. Fantasy tropes are skillfully woven with unexpected twists, offering a satisfying experience traditional fantasy enthusiasts.
The story explores military and political intricacies, developing characters like the twins and their supporting cast. As secrets unfold, the protagonists grapple with sacrifices demanded by their enigmatic connection. This sets the stage for an epic adventure where Vale and Elyn must confront a world abandoned by indifferent gods. To halt the relentless war, they must unlock the secrets binding them, facing a perilous path of sacrifice.
Monteagle's well-crafted fantasy, book one in the Godless Trilogy, promises an enthralling journey for readers. The destinies of Vale and Elyn are intricately intertwined with their war-torn realm, creating a world where two seemingly disparate women play a crucial role in determining its fate.
