by Shane M. Gerry (Author)
Tristan, a pest control technician in his thirties, embarks on a routine job to investigate an ant infestation in a suburban garden. While exploring the overgrown flowerbeds, he senses something unusual. The garden comes alive with vibrant colors and strange sounds, leading to the startling appearance of a pixie-an iridescent, winged creature no larger than his hand.
The pixie, fiercely protective of her garden, confronts Tristan about the harmful pesticides he uses, explaining their devastating impact on the magical ecosystem. Intrigued, Tristan follows the pixie deeper into the garden and discovers a hidden grove teeming with life and enchantment. He witnesses the pixies' connection to the grove's magic and their joyful harmony with nature.
As Tristan immerses himself in this hidden world, he feels a profound shift in his perspective, realizing the importance of balance and coexistence with nature. The pixies invite him to learn more about their realm, and Tristan, captivated by the grove's beauty, vows to protect it. The chapter ends with Tristan beginning a journey of self-discovery, ready to embrace his role as a guardian of this magical world against the challenges that lie ahead.
