by Tatyana Apraksina (Author), James Manteith (Translator)
This is the second edition of California Psalms, a volume of poetry written by Tatyana Apraksina in Russian and translated into English by James Manteith. Spanning Eastern and Western, old and new, poetry, philosophy and visual art, these cathartically beautiful narrative prayers appeal for a recentering in nature, heritage and faith. Author Tatyana Apraksina is a celebrated independent painter, writer and publisher associated with music and alternative community building. Her illustrated psalms, written in Big Sur and the Pacific Northwest, share wilderness reflections on time, being and redemption. The translator has made extensive revisions for this 25th anniversary edition. Tatyana Apraksina is the winner of the 2023 Babel Prize for Literature, honoring her interdisciplinary communication across cultures and languages.
