by Nick Mafi (Author)
A comprehensive overview of Santiago Calatrava's art that offers a new perspective on a world-renowned architect.
Santiago Calatrava is primarily known for his spectacular architectural feats that span the globe. Yet he has never limited himself to architecture alone--rather, he sees himself as an artist. Art represents for Calatrava the purest path for conveying emotion. This comprehensive publication is completely devoted to Calatrava's art, revealing his unmistakable style and profound creativity. In Calatrava's mind, there has never been a separation between architecture and art. Both have been a source of nourishment and a laboratory of expression, with the goal of finding a personal language. With large reproductions and a wide selection of works, the two hundred images in this book detail an oeuvre that has been silently growing throughout Calatrava's life in a multitude of mediums. His artworks have been shown in tandem with his architecture in the world's top museums, but this book presents his artistic work in its entirety for the first time.Author Biography
