What if a deadly disease was released into the world, and ground zero was the house next door?
Welcome to Robbin Meadows, a charming Charlotte, North Carolina enclave, where the houses are well maintained, the trees are mature, and the southern charm is sugary sweet. It's a perfect place for Bailey and Jordan Dayton to settle down, start a garden, and finally adopt their first fur baby.
On the other side of the hedge live Anita and Roger Belo. They are arrogant, rude, and their yard doesn't conform to community standards. Luckily for the Daytons, the Belos keep to themselves. That is until the Daytons have a beloved, old pecan tree between the houses taken down, and deadly secrets are threatened to be unearthed. Friction heats up over the remaining damaged shrubbery and the newly exposed house.
But the Belos house isn't the only thing exposed. Anita is not only a distinguished researcher of the highly contagious Marburg Virus but also a victim. Yet, instead of quarantining herself, Anita knowingly brings the disease home, turns her house into a laboratory, and purposely spreads the incurable virus in the hope of finding a cure before her time runs out.
Bat Crap Crazy is a chilling social horror psychological thriller mixing the creepy subterfuge of The Stepford Wives with the cautionary tale of Contagion. The frightening plot follows Anita's journey as the disease transforms her carefully curated career from a lifelong focus on protecting humankind to a frantic attempt to save her own life at all costs.
The reader's perception of good and evil will be challenged as they witness how far one will go to save oneself and how vulnerable the world is just next door.
