by Richard O'Connor (Author), Glenn Stout (Author)
A Novel of Basketball, Murder and Despicable Acts.
Ex-NBA star-turned private detective Elgin O'Brien loves jazz, justice, and a sweet jumper from the top of the key. When the father of a star player at college basketball powerhouse St. Stephen's asks O'Brien to look into the shooting death of his son outside of a Manhattan nightclub, O'Brien puts on a full-court press to find the perpetrator.
What O'Brien uncovers turns out to be more insidious than a mugging or a neighborhood beef. The deeper O'Brien looks at the St. Stephen's basketball program and his long-time nemesis, Coach Chris Corsito, the more suspects-and corruption-he uncovers, revealing a system where the only thing that matters is winning, no matter who gets hurt, or how, or why.
Inspired by real-life events and contemporary issues plaguing collegiate sports, Flagrant Fouls is a fast-paced, classic, first-person detective novel from two authors with unique insight into the game. It'll keep readers guessing until the final buzzer.
